Speakers for my laptop?

I've been looking into getting a 2.1 system for my laptop because good laptop speakers are still pretty poor.

They'd mostly be for music, though I also do some gaming and movies on it, I'm mostly looking for good music ones.

I've been looking into either the Logitech Z-2300 or the Altec Lansing MX5021. Those aren't all the only options but from what I've found they seem to be among the best.

How do these compare to the Bose Campanions that everyone seems to have? Is there a better or cheaper option in the $250 or less price range?

Any help is greatly appreciated as I know very little about audio. And as something of a sidenot are there any good speaker review kind of sites out there that you guys could point me to?
