speakers cracking when I move the mouse

I just moved to a new house and after I set my system up I noticed that when i walk away from the computer for awhile and then come back when I first move my mouse the speakers pop? I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what could cause this, sounds like a short or something but I checked all teh speaker wires and they seemed to be tight. if any one has any ideas I would appriciate it

system specs are:
Nforce 4 drivers: 6.66
nvidia drivers: 77.77
bfg 7800GTX
3200+ venice
MSI Neo4 PLat/SLI
2x 512mb 3200 ddr Supertalent memory
500w x connect power supply
Audigy2 zs Plat
altec lansing speakers(not really sure what kind, but they are kinda old)4.1

did some searching at altecs website and I think they are ACS54 4.1 Speaker System
 
come to think of it if you wanted to suggest some new speakers that would be cool too. can you get a decent set of 5.1 speakers for gaming at around $50?
 
Ok, the next question is, when you leave the computer for a while, does it do anything, like go into a power save feature, or does it make a sound when you come back to welcome you?

Some of the older altec lansing speakers have a built in power save mode, where they will go into standby. I'm thinking maybe they are in standby, and when you move your mouse it sends an audio signal that "wakes them up".....

Sounds like a specific triggered event.
 
I dont think thats it, ok it just did it right now while I was typing and I just stated my computer and I didnt even move the mouse so maybe its just a coincidence that i am moving the mouse

my speakers never used to do this

could it be to much stuff pluged into the surge protector?

oh and the only powersave feature I use is the monitors power off after like 10 minutes
but the computer itself is always on
 
move the soundcard to a diff pci slot, then see what happens.
 
More likely an IRQ issue (change PCI slot) however this can be caused by a broken shield in the cable somewhere near the speaker input assuming you're using analogue or digital coax, however this is generally more tied to HDD/optical drive access rather than mouse movement, though not impossible.
 
but I had it in the same pci slot at my old appartment and it didnt do this at all?
and it is pluged into the orange pci slot on my MSI mobo(which is supposed to be "optimised" for network cards or some crap) I dont know if that makes a difference or not

also if I switch the pci slots do I have to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them or can I just physically move the card and be done with it?
 
Heh funny I found this thread tonight. I just finished clening up all the cables behind my desk, and made the mistake of bundling the audio and powercables together. This causes all king of humming on my speakers. So looks like Im going to isolate all data and power tomorrow.

PS. Wireless mice can cause a good amount of interference when it comes to speakers.
 
I actually zip tied my wires together along with my power cable for the sub and monitor, could that be causing it?
 
Try seperating them. Sound and power cables should never be put together. The power cables generate small em fields that cause speakers to sometimes hum, depending on the quality of the speaker wire ;)

Oh and you may want to use velcro ties on your wires. They are removable+reusable ;)
 
how far do I need to seperate them because they are all ontop of my desk and theres not alot of other ways for me to get them to the computer really
is an inch enough or does it really need to be more?
 
in windows 2000, i remember hearing the polling noises of both usb and ps/2 mouseses when you'd move them around (it sounds like a pulsating static noise, really faint..but if it's quiet in the room, it's irritating as hell)

i never got it to go away. but i've never heard it under xp. :/
