I have recently connected my stereo system to my computer via the aux function and it sounds a ton better than the crappy built-into-monitor speakers, but they are not silent when they should be.

They are noisy (like noise in a photo), white noise. Is there a program or something that can get rid of this noise?

If you are talking about white noise coming out of the tweeter this is generally preamp noise. I assume this is not line-level since it sounds like this is something you don't usually hear.

Chances are it's low level noise being amplified so I assume it's your sound card that's creating the noise.

in the volume control mute mic and line in. i got SO MUCH NOISE when that stuff was up on my audigy 1. try turning down your volume to like half if that doesnt help.

If you take the same audio leads from the PC and plug them into another amp/speakers, do you still get the noise?
If you have some headphones can you tell us if the noise is present on those too?

does your stereo system have digital inputs? mute the analog inputs?

If u are gettin peed off by audio noise then use digital interfaces.

Generally its ur pc speakers at fault.
