Speaker Upgrade advice please...

I want to upgrade my sound system on my PC. The bass on my 20 dollar speakers just aren't cutting it anymore. I have onboard sound (mobo in my sig).

Can someone give me the best sound card/speakers combo that has good rich sound with nice bass for under $120.

klipsch promedia 2.1's are around $120 (well thats what I payed). Look for them at www.hpshopping.com

I have a Hercules Gamesurround Muse 5.1 DVD. It was cheap, but it really is a great card, for games and music. Of cause, the Creative Cards are awesome (Audigy, anyone?) but you have to pay for the privalage. Also, Hercules and Creative 2.1 speakers are really good. However, TDK make a good 2.1 system, the Tremor, using NXT technology (a way of producing sound from flat speakers). These can handle a great amount of power, with great sound and bass for a good price. Certainly, shop around, but i would suggest a Hercules card with the TDK Tremor speakers.

Hmm, TDK tremor s-80 comes to mind. Looks nk too. The panels do have some raggendness in them, but are still easy to listen to, and the sub does a decent job, so long as it's under the desk.

You should be able to find a set for $60.

Or just go for a cambridge soundworks "soundworks" system. ($70 I think). Those are very nice speakers, and have even better (and cleaner) bass than the TDKs. Overall sound is very nice on the system.

Go to provantage.com and search for the Logitech Z-5300 speakers. Great THX-certified speakers, great price.

THANKS MAN!!! I have been looking for the promedia 2.1 for a while now (they don't even sell them on the klipsch website anymore. I used to work at circuit city (just quit 2 or 3 weeks ago) and we had the on the hp media center. Those speakers are awesome!

Your onboard audio isn't bad, just needs some nice speakers. Such as the "SoundWorks" 2.1 speaker system by CambridgeSoundworks. At only $69.99, you might be surpised by the quality of sound and Bass output by this system.

Actually, Klipsch do still sell them on their site. Many anticipate a new updated 2.1 system from them.
