im about to buy the logitech x-230 2.1 speakers from the egg and i had a few questions about a set up.

I have the westy 22" lcm monitor that im looking to hook up my xbox ps2 computer etc to. What i want to do is hook up my game systems to the logitech speakers. I know of adapters that go from 1/8 audio to rca audio. However i dont want to have to unhook the cables from the computer everytime i want to play the xbox. So im wondering if anyone has a set up that has worked with them. One that will let you have your systems audio and your pc audio hooked up to your speakers at all times. Possibly an adapter that would allow more inputs? or some type of box?

any help would be sweet.

they are designed for nearfield so they wont go very loud and there is not much that can be done about using them with more then one source because they are not designed for that either. an audio switcher might work but im not sure about compatability with the consoles.

do you have any sites you could point me to so i can look at the audio switchers?

You have a couple of alternatives. The cheapest one, in my opinion, would be to use a headphone splitter cable. The cable from the speakers would connect to a stereo-mini female-to-female adapter, plug the headphone splitter cable into the other end of the adapter, and then plug your sound sources into the other ends of the headphone cable. For your computer you’ll probably need a regular stereo-mini-to-stereo-mini cord and then a RCA to stereo-mini cord for your PS2. You shouldn’t have to spend more than $10-12 for this option.

The best way I think for your setup is to use a switch box. If you go to Wal-Mart where they have speaker wire and adapters you can get this little RCA switcher for like $20...basically you can hook up all of your stuff to this one box and use the switch to use one at a time. That’s what I did when I moved into my first dorm and had to result to inexpensive 2.1 speakers. For this setup I believe all you will need are a couple of stereo-mini-to-RCA cord (to connect your computer) and a stereo-mini female-to-female adapter (to connect the cord that comes out of the switch box to the cord that goes to your speakers. Gold plated cords tend to work better...they’ll bring out the mids a little better. All in all I would expect to spend about $30 for this option.
