I've got an old set of Boston Acoustic 2.1 speakers plugged into an old Sound Blaster Live card and noticed sometimes when my computer is off the speakers will make a constant popping noise. Also sometimes when the heater in my apartment kicks on the speakers go nuts and make a loud humming noise. Is this type of interference common with computer speakers? Do newer speakers like Klipsch or Logitech have this problem? Should I consider upgrading?
 
I cannot think of a single multimedia speaker system that has a power filter so you are gonna have the same problem with the thump from most of them.
My Klipsch ultras used to go nuts when the dishwasher was running so I ended up running them through a Brick wall surge suppressor (they have very good line filters in them but they are expensive).

As far as the little pops go.... you got like a wireless anything near by?
Cell phones, wireless routers, and the like can cause that type of problem.
