My Z-340's left speaker keeps going out. Althought i enjoy these speakers i would like to upgrade. 95% of the time the speakers are used for music. and sometimes gaming. I also do video editing so i am looking for a good set of 2.1's that can produce true sound for when i mix down my audio in my video.I also have an ati aiw 9600xt which allows me to watch tv on my computer. i am looking to spend no more then $200 for a quality set of 2.1. I was looking at the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System and the Logitech Z-2200
 
Have you considered good 2.0's instead of the 2.1's? You'll be getting stereo sound either way, but typically you'll do a lot better getting studio monitors than "computer speakers". Any two stereo monitors that fit your price range from these brands should do well for you and give far superior quality to even the Promedia's which aren't really pro audio grade, even if they are among the best things you'll find at Best Buy's computer audio section. If the bass isn't enough for you, you can always add a sub too but they're usually sufficient on their own.

Out of all those I'd personally take the Event TR-5's for analog active speakers or the ProLinear's if you want to have the digital to analog conversion done onboard the speaker. The TR-5's are about the same price as the Klipsch but they're way better and you won't have that huge sub to contend with. Make sure you use good cables like Monster. The TR-5's have RCA inputs so just get a cable that's mini on one end, if your soundcard doesn't have standard RCA out's, and RCA on the other. http://www.monstercable.com/productPage.asp?pin=135

They also cost twice as much :eek: as the "crappy" Rolands I recommended, which actually sound damn good for their price. ;)

Naturally, if you want quality you'll have to pay more for something like the Event's or ProLinear DSP's. If hand polised cherry and walnut is your thing. Sonus Faber can't be beat ;) If you want Piano Lacquer, the Event Studio Precision's are good but you get what you pay for.
 
promedia 2.0 would be nice, since they are the best of the best for 2.1 according to maximum pc, the logitech 2200 is the runner up :)
