Ok guys now ive done my researcH and all on this site and with the advice you guys gave me im going ahead and purchsing a GTS 250 . Then 2 days later i open up my case to see the HORROR!! That is the space inside my case is shit small here are the pics >>>> http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/...n=view&current=DSCN1425-1.jpg&t=1248865778723 there are also a few pictures next to them so have a look now i see there some silver thing below the PCIEx16 SLOT WRITTEN foxconn i dont know what it is but by the looks of it i think its the CPU anyway now it seems that i will not be able to fit a dual slot GTS 250 correct? so thts the same for the 4770 now im stuck with the Mid Segment 9800GT NOW IM DOUBTFUL IF THAT WILL ALSO FIT HELP GUYS IM IN A FIX!!!!!!:confused:

Looks fine to me, Foxconn is just the maker of your motherboard. What is this a HP computer? Are you sure that power supply is good enough for what you're trying to do?

lol, I like this thread

Are you referring to the northbridge heatsink on your motherboard? That's what's blocking the PCI-E slot? It doesn't look like it's in the way to me.

250 gts is one of the smallest cards out there. It should fit, but I agree that the mobo layout looks pretty bad.

lol im a total noob when it comes to computer so wat dyu xactly mean my northbridge or sounth bridge? i just see a large silver foxconn cooler below my pcie slot it about 2 cms if thts the case how am i supposed to fit a huge gts in there also ill be upgrading my psu to a corsair 400 dyu think a corsair will fit in there tnx

That heatsink you have circled in your picture is covering the northbridge. It's an integrated circuit on the motherboard that connects the CPU with your RAM and PCI bus.

Southbridge is another integrated circuit. It typically takes care of things like hard drives, USB, power management. It really depends on who manufactured the chipsets.

The northbridge is typically just south (north, for you and your BTX form factor) of the CPU socket and the southbridge typically resides on the south-east (north-west for you and your BTX form factor) corner of most motherboards.

A dual slot graphics card solution would be flipped upside down in your BTX setup, so the heatsink/fan/fanshroud that would usually be pointing down will be pointing up.

Your northbridge is not in the way.

As far as fitting a new PSU in there, your little text bubble in that picture is in the way so I can't really tell, but I don't think you'll have any problems putting a new PSU in there. The 400W Corsair you're talking about, I mean.

ok so in every other card the fan is facing the bottom but for mine it will face the top?? and also will the ram by chance come in the way ??and also i was confused between the 4770 and gts 250 with my core 2 duo @ 2.4 ghz(cannot OC as its from hp) and 2 gigs of ram which would be a suitable choice for crysis max or almost maxed out give me other options aswell ill be upgrading the powersupply

Yeah sorry reverse what I said your VID-heatsink is going to sit up above that first slot where your card sits in. That north bridge will sit a bit below the card it will not interfere.

I will get flamed for this but zipzoomfly has an insanely awesome deal on an OCZ modxtreme 700w for 49$

Normally, I don't like modular with PSUs, but he might need it to fit into that case. LOL.

but pls answer my question for my core 2 duo 2.4 ghz and 2 gigs of ram which will be better the 4770 or gts 250? will the processor limit each other in any way ? and also will the ram come in the way of the gfx card from the pic tnx!!

What resolution does your monitor run at? If it's 1680x1050 or less, then just get whichever video card is cheaper.
PS just found out that the 4770 is very small at 8.25". So if space is your concern, it might be the better card for you.

"The card that I will be showing you today is the reference Radeon HD 4770, which is a dual-slot graphics card that measures in at 8.25" in length."

by max out i dont mean aa on at all just everything on high not very high either will it work with all on high at 1440x900??

@1440x900 he might ;). I know my 8800gts640 could play it decently well at that res.
