Just wondering if my temps for my 2.4C @ 3.2 with an sp-94 + AS5 are in an "acceptable range".

42C idle 52C load.

I also had lapped the sp-94 up to 1200 grit. I don't know but I was kinda expecting a bit lower temps with this cooling setup. Also I have a 92mm Tornado on the HS. A friend told me that IC7's report the temps innacurately... but innacurate in which way? hotter or colder? I got the latest BIOS also.

BTW are the heatpipes supposed to face the front of the case or the back of the case?
 
on abit's program (abiteq) ic7@37c on idle with the latest bios i havent tried doing it on load due to the fact my system is screwy atm. same heatsink w/ ceramique paste.
 
Wow that explains everything. WHat about the SP94's heatpipes? What is the optimal location for them?
 
When I had that cooler ion my IC7-G I had it mounted with the heatpipes facing the rear of the case, The most optimal would be facing upward as I recall, but you can't mount it that way as I recall.

I had the same temp issues, although mine would read 52C idle and 61C load. Smaller case, but on touching the copper base, it sure didn't feel that hot even under load. I just live with the temp readings, doesn't bother me as long as it is stable. I'm using an SP-120 now, looks better with heat pipes facing upward.
