ok anyone have any specific SP2 problems yet? i am wondering if i should install it but i have custom themes, log on, and boot screen. was wondering if there were any problems with this and if there currently are fixes yet? as well post any other problems that you have run into here. i.e games etc.

Seeing as how SP2 was supposed to stop a ton of spyware and be all about security I'd say it's failing miserably so far. Computers been fine for almost a month. Never get any popups, use firefox for all web browsing except for secure sites that want IE. Restart and I get a DCOM error and system restart.

Go into safemode!!!! and i'm playing whack a mole with popups. Usually safemode did a good job keeping popups from appearing in the first place so the spyware could be removed but that no longer seems to be the case. No clue how i'm gonna get this wintools crap off of here or how it even got on the system in the first place. It's the first sign of any ads I've seen on this system in a long time.

I'm also behind a router which is an effective firewall and always keep the antivirus up to date so seeing all this shit popup right after installing SP2 and rebooting is a bit of a pain in the ass. The SP2 install I used was off of the microsoft site so nothing odd there.

Well, that's enough to keep me away. My rig has been running without any significant issues since I built it in April of '03. I had to restore once, but no reformats. I'm not taking any chances now, except maybe I'll build another rig as soon as I find another board that I like as well as this one. I've finally learned that if it works, don't screw with it. No SP2 here. Besides, SP3 is probably already in Alpha to fix SP2. :D

This patch blows....

I low leveled my system today and installed the patch.... I did all my tweaks that I originaly did with SP1a and blah blah lets just say I can no longer defrag my HDD's.... I ran CHKDSK and everything but when I go to defrag I can click on the drive and then click defrag or analyze but nothing happens....

I had to remove Kerio FireWall before installing SP2. After the install I re-installed Kerio and all is fine. The reason for the removal is that windows will come up and say that there is Kerio is being turned off and tries to put up a GUI window. Meanwhile Kerio is asking if the GUI window should be allowed. It just hangs in a light blue screen (no BSOD).

I installed it on 2 of my not so main computers and both are running fine, However, I notices a few weird bugs so far, one is i couldn't delete things from my start menu from the actual start menu (right click and nothing would happen), i needed to go into my user accounts (that was only for a few things, most would delete). And when i went to install a program i use (a non-important one) it gave me an error i was missing some file, and i google'ed it and the first hit had a fix, it was an .exe i installed, and it took care of the problem, it was regarding a library of somekind. The rig that i actually did a fresh install on yesterday (before i knew this was out) runs noticably smoother than the other rig, but not any different than before the SP1. So far no problems, only thing i notice is the firewall asks me some questons (i didn't use it before) and the log on looks a bit different, but other than that it's no different. I'm holding off on my main rig a few weeks. I ghosted the other 2 in the event they didn't work. I also did some 3D benches before/after, and here's what i found (as i expected, no real difference).
