The Hardware:
Soyo KT333 Dragon Ultra Platinum Edition (Platinum colored PCB)
WORKING PC2700 DDR
WORKING AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz
AGP GeForce2 Hercules 64mb

The Problem:
Everything gets power: The onboard LED, Northbridge Fan, HSF, Graphics Card. So power is not the issue. Its out in the open w/ an anti-static bag under it. I plug everything in, and I get a beep. One long beep and then a pause, one long beep and a pause. So I tried both sticks of my working tested RAM individually in every slot, nothing. Tried some questionable PC2100 in every slot individually, nothing. I dont have another Sockat 462/A Processor, but do I need another? The one im using on it runs perfect. I take it out and put it into the Tyan board I have right next to it and it works great.

Ive cleared the CMOS, nothing. Taken out the battery, nothing. Im totally stumped. Soyo's online support says its a memory issue. Well Its not since the RAM I have IS compatible and tested working.

Any ideas?

First, get the board off of the static bag and put it on something non conductive. You have the extra molex plugged in? Any beep codes?

You have done the basics (swapped known good proc and memory), it might be time for a board. Tried another PSU? Eventhough your fans spin up it doesn't mean your PSU is good. You could have a trashed rail messing with your head. Longshot, but something to ck.

Extra Molex: Plugged in
Beep Codes: One long beep and then a pause, one long beep and a pause, as stated in my first post.

My friend gave me the board because he said it was DOA. I asked him why he didnt RMA it and he said the retailer wouldnt let him. So its a free board! Might as well try to use it if I can.

It could be the PSU. Too bad I dont have a sure fire PSU to test it on though. Thanks guys. Keep it coming. I will mess with it tomorrow since its my day off.

I'm a newb but my suggestion is your CPU.. I had the same the computer would just beep and do nothing. I exchanged the defective Barton 2500 for the same model and it worked liked a charm.

Haha I was thinking the same Polish. Think thier is any chance Soyo would let me RMA it back to them by some slight chance?

Lol im being hit up on the morality thing arent I? Well it is legit. Since half the cash was given to him by me at the time of the purchase for the whole machine we were building. The wholesaler had a 5 day warranty, but we thought it was just his processor. Tried mine and it still dosnt work. Soo now its after the 5 day in store warranty.

Hi I think I know what your problem is if you have an 8x video card the mother board is having an hard time reading the video cards memory at boot up. Heres how I get my kt400 working When It gets cranky after an power outage. Turn on the computer and keep holding the power button in till it shuts down then push the power button again, it should post. I know it sounds strange but 8x cards cause soyos to hiccup after power outages. They really need an bios update to fix this problem, two other people I know have the same problem with soyo boards.

Hope this helps:rolleyes:
