anyone recommend any cooling? this hot cant be healthy for the system. its just got a heatsink at the moment, its a 925x board.

just cuz it says its for a north bridge doesnt mean its no good for south bridge..

north bridge :p

you can get two of the second listed but it dont come with epoxy.. you dhave to get your own.. it cools better tho because of more surface area but how much you expect a south bridge to make for wattage :p

my south bridge appears to be held on by nothing but thermal tape.. autho nvidia spec doesnt call for cooling perhaps ill be adding some some day as well as finaly replacing northbridge

makes no difference in reality.. if you want active cooling get a nice 40 mm fan and strap it onto the zalman.. you would get MORE airflow out of that and it would be lots quieter(its how i sorta upgraded my north bridge's stock cooling)

thermaltakes squirrel cage coolers are the worst idea in the world.. there noisy as hell they get clogged cuz there turbines and they push practically no air unless there running at mach 3 (its 3.5 cfm on HIGH as in 41 db for 3.5 cfm)

sort of impractical for a north bridge... in general the zalman north bridge coolers doesnt need more then decent case air flow to function... much like the heat pipe video card coolers.. but if ppl like air flow/dont mind noise...

im sorta bias because my computer is setup so its everything but silent.. stupid power supply is making noise now.. not much.. in the order of about 22-23 db.. but thats all thats needed to be the loudest thing in my system
 
imho, anything that says ThermalTake on it is just asking to be loud and more-or-less ineffective.
 
I like my pc loud, maybe because I grew up around race cars and jet airplanes my whole life. I am a wierd guy :p
 
that explains why you use thermaltake products.... your in it for the noise not the preformance... ppl used to go with noise but then they decided they like to be able to sleep at night

mine are very quiet. volcano 12 and purepower 480. barely a whisper... cooling my CPU very effectivly i might add
