Soundcard via Digital

There are HD sounds that require a soundcard to process them even through digital ;) For normal use there is no use as you are avoiding the dac.

Thx. There has always been arguments to the processing that a soundcard can offer like Eax etc. But I believe maybe someone can clear this up that Eax is also basically been done via software and windows 7 api has changed which makes those effects useless on soundcards. That's what I understand just want to hear everyone's point of view to it

People always mention EAX, but the EAX API was deprecated back in 2006. Yes, old games still work with it, but how many pre-2006 games that use EAX are you going to continue to play.

Digital connections are there to bypass soundcards own DAC and connect it to another one, like ones found in Hometheatre systems or clearly superior ones like dedicated stereo audiophile DACs. I for example use one. Unless you set output to SPDIF, (which you should do for music players) it doesnt bypass soundcards EAX and CMSS3D stuff either, good for games.

Well... Two Worlds II has EAX effects. But that game sucks (IMHO) ass so it doesnt count. :D Its sad really. EAX is great and functional system, it shouldnt be obsolete yet.
