soundcard popping

my friends speakers pop when they are plugged into the soundcard.
I don't know what it is but they pop almost rythmically.
any suggestions?

2) Update sound card.
3) Update speakers.

Unfortunately this is not the "psychic computer audio" forum, so I am unable to ascertain what equipment is being used since you didn't bother to list it.
