i currently have a asus a7n8x deluxe usign the alc-650 for my audio, and im tired of the hiss and crackle i get from it. so im looking for a soundcard, narrowed my choices down to either a maudio revolution or a audigy 2. main use is games and mp3s. i wont use 3d sound as i use headphones for gaming and have no room to set up the extra speakers needed. id like the maudio just for the better sound quality, but im not sure about the performance hit since it doesnt have hardware acceleration. gaming performance being somewhat more important than ultimate sound quality which would be a better choice?

whats your current speakers? i think you'll be better off investing in a good set of digital speakers to go with your N8X-D

i dont use speakers except on rare occasions. mainly use either hd590's through a headphone amp, or a set of pc-150's when gaming.

Check this link for good info on some cards gaming performance. Tweaktown. IMO as a headphone user (HD580/AT amp), the Chaintech AV710 has great audio quality, but the Audigy2 ZS is better for gaming. I have both in my system.

I'm just curious is all, but saturnine2 why would you want to trade a 9800Pro for a 5900Ultra? Especially with cash added to it. Considering the 5900 ultra is significantly slower and overpriced, why would you do that?

Linux compatability, and I dont play enough games to warrant a 6800. Nuff said ;)
