Alright, I took my motherboard out the other day to install a new heatsink. When I put it back in, I hooked up my audio out cable to the back plug on the mobo like usual. However, now it won't work. No sound whatsoever. Here are my specs....

Mobo: Asus A7N8X-X
CPU: AMD Athlon Xp3000+
Mem: 1 gig of Kingston PC3200

any guesses?
 
This is probably stupid, but did you plug it into the right jack?

Once I had a screw that got lodged under the motherboard that shorted out the PS/2 ports, it could probably happen to the sound ports too.
