Sound Problems

I'm having some problems with my sound. It makes weird screeching noises sometimes. It usually happens during games (especially older ones, Diablo and StarCraft are examples), but sometimes if too many sounds are playing at once outside of games it happens as well. I'm running an SB Audigy 2 Platinum eX with the latest drivers. The problem has persisted across several different speaker setups so I'm sure it's not that. My system specs are:

AMD Athlon XP 2500+
1024MB Corsair XMS DDR
Radeon 9800 Pro 128
Epox 8RDA+ Mobo
80GB Western Digital HDD {Primary}
40GB Western Digital HDD (Secondary)
Lite-on DVD-ROM
Windows 2000 Pro

Any help is appreciated.

I would say that your problem is you are running W2K.

That is a business OS and does not have the wide range of compatibilty that is required for gaming.

Upgrade to XP and I'll bet that your problem goes away.
