Sound problems with new Video Card

I just recently bought an ATI AIW 9800 pro video card and installed it without a problem. As it is now, the card is working perfectly. However the problem is when I am not watching TV, or have the TV running, my speakers have started to hiss and make strange noises when I scroll through folders. Normally I would live with this, but it turns out that I have also recently purchased an Audigy2 ZS with Creative 5.1 speakers. I installed all the latest drivers off of their respective web sites and the problem was fixed for about an hour until the speakers started to hiss once agains. Does anyone have any idea what this problem could be or how to fix it? All help would be much appreciated!

Stats:

Biostar M7NCD Motherboard
Athlon XP2400
512 DDR3200
ATI AIW 9800Pro
Audigy2 ZS Sound Card
5.1 Creative Labs Speakers

Sounds to me like you are getting interference.

Here are a few things that may or may not help.

1) make sure that the hdd cables, sound card, and video card are as far away from each other as possible. That means putting the soundcard in the bottom slot of your motherboard, the video card (obviously) at the top, and if you've got the cable length, turning your hard drive completely around.

2) See if you can find some form of shielding for the coax cable going into the video card, as well as the wires coming out of the sound card. Sheild the hdd cable too. Is the cable metal jacketed round (i've got copper ones) or is it flat ribbon cable?

3) Put another video card in [your old one] and see if the problem persists.

also see if you can get you computer like about a foot off the ground to see if the interference is from your surroundings or inside the computer :)
