I'm having some sound problems in Far Cry, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, and Battlefield 1942. After a variable amount of playing time the sound becomes scratchy. The only way to fix it is to exit and restart the game.

I'm using the integrated sound on my A7N8X Deluxe and a set of Altec Lansing speakers (a sub, left/right, and 2 satellites). I currently have the mobo drivers that shipped with the mobo installed. Should I upgrade the drivers? If so, is there a way to uprgade only the sound portion of the drivers? I only ask because I had some trouble with my system recognizing my wireless network card after reinstalling mobo drivers last time.

I had somewhat the same problem before but on Abit's NF7-S...

I am under the impression that you could do a custom install of ForceWare drivers and only put the media ones in place. Windows Update also holds a ForceWare media only patch you could try.

My actual suggestion would be to drop to Safe Mode and remove your wireless adapter and the MCP device from the system. Reboot, cancel out the automated installs.

Run the Nvidia ForceWare update, reboot.

install your wireless.

I can't say this is the be all end all solution to the problem though. I'm under the impression that the audio issue is one Nvidia is aware of, but has no interest in fixing as AXp is going out the door.
