Sound ports aren't working.

Good morning,

After installing a new component, I've booted my computer up and I'm not experiencing any sound.

When I plug my headset into the front panel ports, I hear the slight thump of the device being received, which I typically hear, but no sound plays.

In Control Panel, I can conduct a test and it shows that sound is playing, it's just not being produced by the receiver.

When I open up the Sound part of Control Panel, what I see is interesting. It shows the different devices the system recognizes, but the headphones are constantly disappearing and reappearing from the list, and does this several times a second. When it shows up, it's either as an item that is not plugged in, or completely gone. Sometimes it is recognized as plugged in, and even set as the default sound receiver, and then disappears again, at which point the standard device becomes default again.

I suspect that the computer isn't able to recognize anything and because the default device is constantly changing is the reason it can't produce sound.

I also suspect my front-panel connectors may not placed right. Both the AAFP and the SPDIF_OUT must be connected, yes?
