well, the sond died on my board last night, so i rebooted, nothing, left the computer off all night, woke up this morning still nothing. anyone ever heard of this, or know wut might have caused it? thanks.

Ugh.. Sorry for you.. :X I read reviews about this problem with this particular mother board thats why I didn't go with it. I'm still in the process of building my own comp but so far I've had my eye out for the Aopen AK86-L mobo. I have seen reviews about your mother board and I've read many users having scratchy sounds with it. :X Goodluck try RMA?

Bummer.
You could try a couple of things just in case:

Try slapping a passive heatsink with a bit of thermal paste on the southbridge (MCP-T). It does get quite hot, especially when the system is overclocked.
Try outputting your audio through an alternate jack if the drivers let you, to see if the jack is dying. This assumes you're using stereo analog output.
If those don't help, try wiping the drive and reinstalling your OS just in case.
