Hey - I have an Epox 8k3a+ motherboard with onboard AC-97 sound (which isnt very good)
I just got some parts from a friend for free, including a Creative PCI 128 sound card.

I decided to put it in to get correct sound from all 4 speakers, and it sounds great in music (no lag) but when I start up Day of Defeat, I fire a shot and hear it about a second later

It only does it in that game, I have tried it in Far Cry and a few racing sims and everything works fine

I have played with the settings in windows and in DoD and can't figure out why it does that

Any ideas? I really don't want to go back to my old AC-97 sound because it doesn't play the rear or center channels
