Alright, I reformatted, installed my sound Sound Blaster 24 bit live drivers, hear sound, reboot, then back to no sound.

I go to device manager and have a ! next to the SB live slot.

So I do a repair on the SB live with the cd, get sound again, reboot, then lose sound.

After each reboot it loses the sound.

What is going on?

I tried taking it out and putting it back in, deleting all SB live from the registry and nothing is working.

go into device manager and delete all drivers that have to do with ur soundblaster, the reinstall. failing that, try older drivers

What operating system are you using? Are you using Vista? Maybe you are trying to install an XP driver?

Can't think of anything else other than the card is bad.

Try using driver cleaner Pro from www.guru3d.com. Clean out all creative drivers, (leave your card installed though). Reboot, see if XP auto-detects the hardware, don't let it install the basic drivers, and then install the recommended drivers from creative.

I also recommend downloading / saving them for future reference as well.

Good Luck!

wow.. no resolution with that...

Your system will detect the card, just not the drivers after an install?

I ran into a very similar issue with an onboard network 'card' this week on a PC. I would install the driver, and everything looked fine, however after reboot all I could get from it was 'limited or no connectivity'. I tried everything I could to get it on the network, but the only way I eventually 'fixed' it was a fresh OS install. Not the best option but it worked. Maybe you could take that drastic measure?
