Sound Insulation Suggestions

I'm having a problem with fan noise, and I want to try to make my computer as silent as possible without spending loads of money on fans. I have been thinking about possibly lining the insides with rubber, or possibly a thin sound absorbing foam of some sort. The computer isn't all that hot, since it's a 1333 Athlon, and right now my current insulation works okay.

The inside of my case is lined with cut up towel and that's covered with duct tape. The increase I found was about a degree in mb temperature. How do you think rubber would work? Anything else?

Thanks in advance.
