well the speakers are logitech z-2300 and i'm using the onboard sound on my biostar 6100 mobo. anyways, one of the channels (the default left one) can't play anything without any fuziness or distortion. first i thought it was the speakers so i switched the two connections and the one connected to the left output had the problems. could it be a driver problem or has something in the connection gone bad?

Generally, most systems coming with integrated HDA audio any more, I'd suggest trying newer drivers. However - amazingly - the Biostar 6100 is still using a plain ol' AC'97 CODEC.

Which is really, REALLY not worth the bother.

You can try downloading the latest drivers - look on the Realtek site for the AC'97 drivers - but, honestly, the soundcard suggestion is very definitely for the best.
