Sound from 1 channel only... help

Well I just recently hooked my desktop back up after not using it for like 3 months and now there is only music out of the left speaker and not the right. The last time I used it, 3 months ago, it worked fine and no issues at all.

I have moved the sound card from one pci slot to another to see if that was the problem, Nope.
Hooked up headphones straight to the sound card to see if that was the problem, Nope.

The card is a Sound Blaster Live! 24bit one. Not sure on the exact model.

Anybody have any clues on what it could be? I'm guessing the card just took a poop and that I'm going to need a new one but I don't have another card to throw in to see if that is the issue.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
 
1. So headphones only had sound out of one channel?
2. Did you try the speakers on another source? (ex: mp3 player)

1. Yes, but I know that infact both sides work on an ipod and my laptop.
2. Yes, they work on my laptop perfectly fine.

Basically, what i'm asking is there anything else that could be causing the problem? Ex. drivers, etc. Not the card itself.
 
it could be drivers, I remember thinking my soundcard was defective for a brief moment because I had the balance slider all the way to the left. Make sure its nothing like that.

However, it could also be the card.

Yeah I was thinking that as well, but I checked the windows volume control thinking it might be that and nothing. I don't think it could be something just on the card though, such as a sound blaster volume control issue.

I need to try the card in another computer.
 
cables or cable connections are my usual culprits when stuff like that happens
