sound delay in games

my friend just got his abit NF7-S V2 mobo and processor and when he plays call of duty with the analog out on the mobo he gets this horrible delay in sound. like when he fires a weapon the sound delays like 1.5 seconds. what causes this? we have the processor and video card slightly overclocked. could this be the cause? it doesn't seem right. all we have for drivers is the drivers that came on the disc with the mobo.
