Sound Dampening Question.

Well I just got my order of Akasa Sound Dampening material. Is there a guide to install sound dampening with pictures and maybe videos onto a computer case?

My Main question is, Should I install some below the motherboard or on the other side of the motherboard tray?

Thanks,
Mark

I wouldn't. The motherboard needs a little room to "breathe" as it were. If you put it on the tray, you're limiting the amount of air that can circulate behind the Motherboard and tray.

You should only need to use it on the side panels, top, bottom, front, and back. Don't cover up anything you may need, of course. I wouldn't cover up any of the vent holes either, unless you have some really good airflow going on, and you're into the negative pressure thing.

Well. Good luck to ya!

Don't bother at all, Akasa Sh*tMat ain't worth the time it takes.
Basic cheap bitumen mat works much better than it because at least it has the mass to dampen vibrations.

The Akasa Paxmate is far too light, way too thin and has too low a density to meet any of the criteria set above.
It is unlikely that applying this product could have any significant impact on the noise of any PC in any case. Anyone with the least bit of understanding of acoustic damping will come to that conclusion in a 30-second examination.

And seems to have even other problem: ...and something the Akasa PaxMate is missing. After three years of PaxMate in my previous case the surface had started to degrade in certain areas.

Also I've tested it and fully agree to this user comment:
I used the Akasa stuff several years ago. It did absolutely nothing to reduce noise

I personally use this stuff.

It seems to work OK, and is fairly inexpensive. It's along the same lines as the PaxMat though, just cheaper.

I guess the best way to do it would be using the pro-egg-crate like stuff, but that's a bit more expensive.

I haven't yet tried any of the spray on stuff yet.... Like Quiet Kote.
