sound cards

I need to get a sound card, but not sure which to get. I was looking at the x-fi ones on newegg, but are they actually worth the $100 and up price tag? Are they a lot better for gaming than normal audigys and lives? And is there much difference between the different x-fis?

I also need one with a gameport so I can use my joystick again.
