Sound Card

not as far as I know, plus its nice to be able to use a slot that is almost useless for most people.

Some older boards have trouble with high bitrate sync (only important if you're recording / mixing music) with PCIe cards due to PCIe clock rate issues. Any modern board should have done away with these issues. It's then purely a question of what expansions slots you have available to use with a card... and needing a card in the first place. Modern onboard sound is more than sufficient unless you have either really nice headphones or a nice dedicated speaker setup to hook up to. You will never notice a difference with a set of Logitechs or something.

If you decide you need a card and have a free usable PCIe slot I would buy a PCIe card, since you can then move the card to a new machine -- PCI is getting phased out. If you only have PCI open and you decide you need a card, get a PCI card.

That is a good price for that card man! I am thinking I might want to buy it!!!! (there was a new ed put out but you will have to pay 179$ for it ...)
