sound card or not

I need some help . Im using a Aiwa karaoke stereo for my sounds and headphones taking the audio speaker output from the PC and feeding it to a RCA wire and going into the Aiwa video/aux input and it sounds petty good i just wonder if a sound card is worth buying and would it sound a lot better "cleaner or more detail" than the PC install audio system ? i wanted to install the Creative lab Sound Blaster Uudigy 2 Oem Sound Card is only like $69.00 card but i dont think i want go much higher money wise..

Yes it will be cleaner and more detailed the question is will you notice it on that "system" ?

I bought the chaintech card on newegg that everyone talks about, and I can definitely definitely tell the difference (vs. onboard) on headphones, even cheap ones. However, on my speakers (altec lansing 2.1) I can't tell the difference except at (much) higher volume levels.

If you ever use headphones, it's worth it; if not skip it and get better speakers instead.

the system is quite good for what it is, aiwa was allways a decent brand .and second i mostly use headphones for now and during games . i can upgrade the sound system later i really dont care much for sorround sound right now to be honest i rather have a expensive 2 speaker system with maybe a good subwoofer those little satellite speakers dont do much for me ..plus you need an ideal room to place them. my aiwa 2 speaker sound a lot better than many low end sorround system i heard . but mainly i use headphones and i plan to upgrade to a very good quality headphone. a good surround system is not cheap around $800.00 at least.

thank you this is great info. by the way Altec Lansing are very good speakers so i take your word on it.

While I do agree that upgrading your speakers is probably a good idea, don't underestimate the effect that upgrading from a crappy sound card can have, even on a set of multimedia speakers. The difference between the Audigy 2 ZS and the EMU 0404 is clearly audible on my Altec Lansing ATP3s.

Those 200 and $300 system are a joke and Onkyo is not exactly a high end system but for the money they give you the most bang for you dollar. But for headphones hell even a old reciver like a marantz from the 70s can power a headphone quite nice and could prob find one for less than $100.00 ....You notice they wont tell you the RMS rating.Onkyo Envision Home Theater System (LS-V955)
