i bought this " Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 PCI Sound Card, Model "SB0226" -OEM" for my sister's pc

pictured here

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-102-165&catalog=57&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0

the card did come with the driver cd, unfortunately something happen with the cd drive and the cd got cracked, so i could not install drivers and lost cd

so i go to creative's site and dl the drivers,
but the installation thing says, cannot find creative sound card, WHat the ...

i dl the drivers, " Sound blaster Live! 5.1 Digital
i tried the other sound blaster live! 5.1 series drivers, same thing

i tried this card in both an Asus P4P800 and P4S800D-E Deluxe
motherboards and same thing
is the card defective or what, one time i extracted the drivers with winrar and manually install the drivers, and it worked, now it doesnt ,
by the way the OS is Windows 2k PRo

and this is why you NEVER BUY A CREATIVE PRODUCT

sorry, but youre screwed.

hehehe,
i knew i was screwed , thanks for confirm it:p
stupid creative arghh,
got to buy another one, other than creative
arghh

Win2k is a bit of a fussy OS for audio driver install and uninstall. Did you have a Creative sound card installed in that machine before or perhaps the driver was only partially installed? A partial or botched install could cause problems for any future re-install of the drivers. Best bet is to remove the card from the system, reboot and remove Creative Tech from the registry, reboot and re-install the card.

So why can't you ask NewEgg for another driver install CD? Would they charge you an arm and a leg for it?
