I'm wondering what sound card i should get... my options are X-Fi Titanium HD (SB1270) and Titanium Fatal1ty Pro (SB0886). This is for gaming, nothing else. Any thoughts? Feel free to give me other options as well, but i'm not looking to spend more than $100 on this:)
 
At the $100 or so price point, the ASUS Xonar D1/DX reigns supreme. You might even be able to aquire a D2(X) at that point if you look hard enough. Another alternative option would be the Auzentech Forte, though its been out of production for a while now.
 
I have been using the Asus D2X since it came out and its been very solid. Drivers are small and light, the sound quality is very good. No problem with it in games either both old and new. Overall a good solid sound card, I had a Titanium HD that I picked up on sale one day about a year ago. To me it sounded no different then the Asus but it does have a larger driver foot print and it has quirk with Fraps that would not let me record game audio with Teamspeak audio where the Asus will. I gave the X-Fi to a friend a few weeks because his onboard Realtek died and the X-Fi was just sitting on the shelf. Either one is a good choice.
 
What are you driving with it? Headphones or speakers? Makes a difference in recommendations.
