Sound Card Advice

I have a Coolermaster Centurion 5 tower case and a ASUS P5B Deluxe Wifi motherboard and I recently bought a new headset /w mic to use when I play online games to talk to people. Well the front jacks which are for the headphone and microphone, do not work. I tried to put them in different jacks in the back to see if I could get them to work. But I couldn't get Windows to recognize the headset to set it up in vent. I assume I need to get a sound card. Anyone have any advice on which to choose, I don't intend on having a surround sound system since my room is kind of small. Mainly need it for my headset, and I have cheap speakers so I assume they can stay in the back jack like it already is.
