So with me newest build being a day or two away from ordering, I'm looking into a near silant case. Does anybody use these sound absorbing mats? If so, would you suggest them. I've read mixed reviews from several computer sites such as newegg. Most reviews that actually make sence say that it has reduced noise conciderably but then made the case temps a bit higher. I'd be willing to increase my case temps by 1 or 2 degrees for the fact that my case will be quiter... the stuff I'm currently looking at is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811998601. My new case build is pretty much 2 atx cases side by side, so I would ned 2 of them.... Is my nearly $20 worth it, or is there a cheaper solution anyone can offer?

I have some of those sound absorbing mats, I can't really tell if it makes a difference, if it does I can't notice. I probably wouldn't buy it again because putting the sound dampening mat all over the case means my UV lights don't reflect on the aluminum case like they used to which looked really cool.

It does get a little bit warmer because you're covering the metal of your case which provides some cooling but as long as you have good airflow throughout your case it should not be a problem. If you don't, that foam will insulate and hold that hot air inside the case and you have a blazing computer, litterally. :)

I have the same kit. I personally didnt notice any difference so I think its a waste of money. Plus if you want to remove this stuff, its EXTREMELY hard to.

I've used several different brands and the best is this one from Nexus. Very easy to apply and easy to remove because the adhesive is attached to a thick rubber barrier unlike other products where the adhesive is attached to the foam where it rips easily.

Stuff is slightly expensive. The store is in Canada and the price is in Cdn. Don't know of any place in the states that carries it.

They also have blocks to place in empty drive bays.

My friend bought some, he said it is the best money scam alive. You make a mat, and you give it a purpose and you sell it! Make millions off foam or w/e it is. It doesn't do jack! But it looks cool in you case, or something like that.
