Sossaman goodness

yeh Intel's new architecture looks so exciting. Nothing but good things said about it so far, Intel sure know how to do some marketting !
 
Sossaman is a beautiful CPU. its Yonah with some server side enhancements.
Its a completely different socket then yonah. aside from being PGA and 478 or 479 (if i remember, it was called socket-N)

The beauty of it besides taking aroung 45-60 watts per cpu, was that the heat disipation was so low that the heatsinks were next to nothing.
The best part was that the design goal was to fit these systems in a 1U rack.

now, these wont be aimed at most desktop consumers, the motherboards will be expensive, and the chipset features are not orientated towards gamers or workstations. this is for server farms where heat and space are an issue.

if you want the most powerful system you can get for under 2k$ try looking at woodcrest. its conroe's server counterpart. DPDC. new type of memory though. :(
