What kind of ram does a 64bit system use?

what is memory frequency?

when you classify timings by #-#-#-# which #'s are:
CAS# RAS#toCAS# RAS#Precharge and Cycle Time

Your probalby talking about an Athlon 64 system, be it a 939 or 754 socket, they both use standard non-ecc un-buffered DDR-ram. To put it simply, they just use standard DDR ram which is used on 32-bit systems.

If it's a socket 940 which are used by some Athlon FX's and opterons, (don't read further if it isnt) then it'll probably used registered DDR ram which gives better data protection during transfer but is alot more expensive.

Hope this helps,

just regular DDR for mainstream processors (ie, athlon64) and registered ECC DDR for server processors (ie, Opteron)

memory frequency is how fast the memory is running, just like the frequency rating on a processor.

those numbers are latency timing, they (very overveiwish) determine how quickly the memory refreshes data

if you dont understand simple things like these, you really need to go find a good faq and do a good amount of reserch
