Sure Facebook, T-Mobile and Microsoft had some pretty big screw ups this year but I think we can all agree that either Samsung or Yahoo had better take top honors on this list. Seriously, what could be bigger than Samsung's recall or Yahoo's account hack?

Microsoft couldn’t get out of its culturally-clueless way in 2016. Samsung apologized over and over for its flaming Note7 fiasco. HP, T-Mobile, Facebook and pretty much every other big name in tech was forced to issue a public apology or more during the year, as public relations pros earned their money (or not) to salvage their employer or client’s reputation – for the time being. You won’t be sorry for taking a spin through this collection of corporate apologies from the tech world.

I have to go with Samsung for actually causing physical harm to its customers, repeatedly. It was not intentional of course, but it's hard to win back trust when you've literally burned people.

IMHO T-Mobile has absolutely nothing to apologize about where Binge-On is concerned.

24/7 streaming from the most popular streaming sites in DVD quality? At NO cost to the customer? What's not to love. DVD quality is more than enough for a 5-6" phone screen. Hell, it's good enough for a 60" Plasma.

DVD quality is from back when we had tube tvs. It's 1/4 HD resolution and is easily noticeable on my iphone 6+.

I'd vote for Samsung for sure. In addition to the phones catching fire, let's not forget the exploding washing machines. They've really had a blast this year.

But... but... but... Net Neuterality will save the internet! Without it, companies will be able to offer exclusive deals to their customers that are awesome! With it, everyone will have to provide the exact same service and won't be rewarded for providing better services and offers!

I can't wait for the Republican controlled FCC to squash that socialist bullshit.

Ah, counterfeit printer cartridges.. the only way I go.. and no I don't update my printer at all, ever.. didn't even know about this HP thing, but I figured that was a risk.

I agree.. getting more on cellphone services is great.. land line ISPs playing games, whole different beast.

My girlfriend has one of these HP color inkjet MFPs that won't work at all due to this firmware fiasco. My plan is to toss it and buy a cheap laser printer. Didn't HP buy Samsung's printer business? I guess I have to buy a Brother now?

Any printer I buy, I make sure there are generic cartridges available.
My recent favorite was the HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color M451 printers. I bought one for home and several for the office when they where selling for $250-$300. Sadly they have been discontinued and are hard to find. Plenty of cheap toner available at about 1/3 the cost of HPs.

I also have a Canon all-in-one that takes cheap generic ink. Don't care how much the kids use it, since the cost per page is so low.

I don't use HP but Epson and brother.
Brother is laser, and it takes generic toner (dont update that either).
Epson is older now (WF-3540) and takes generic like Inktoneram (10.95 for a set of 14 in amazon)
They call it remanufactored, honestly, it looks manufactured (new) but on the cheap. It has worked very well for going on 3 years now (I have a drawer full of ink).
One thing, I started, straight up the printer with the generic crap.. I attempted switching printers before (canon), and it was clog central, I had in my mind that it was the mix of the inks potentially (canon (in the past) and epson have separate print heads the ink is just ink, unlike HP).
I suggest research new models, see what generic is available, and ask specifically if the new printer will take the generic ink (ask in amazon for example)
I took the risk (even ofter research its still a risk), at 10.95 (plus some 140 for the printer) and it paid off, and keeps working like normal.
Printing on HP and HP inks is insanely expensive, I was so pissed about it (after so many 70$ trips to Costco) , I donated 3 HP printers I used to have.

LOL. I work at a non-profit and whenever we get inkjet printer donations I toss them right in the dumpster :D Any poor family doesn't deserve to have one of those ink suckers.

This has nothing to do with net neutrality.

I'm an old fart that remembers B&W 240. I'm easy to please.

When BR came out its biggest issue was, numbers or no numbers, people just didn't see a big enough perceived quality improvement over DVD.

That has improved a bit as the movie houses slowly get it through their cheap, greedy heads you can't just port a DVD, call it good, and charge twice as much for it.

I'll go for the
D
V
D every time if it saves substantial money.

Might just be me, but I don't see why about 1/3 of this list is on there. So if that is the worst of the worst, not a bad year.

Samsung gets my vote. Took me two hours to disable all the crapware on my galaxy s4 after I reset it. Insane. The kicker for me is the forced ads on my very expensive 65" Samsung TV. They can take those ads and shove them straight down their Pi-Hole! Lost my business permanently over that garbage. I really like their SSDs too... Sigh.

They are pretty good hardware developers, as far as industrial design and software.....they need help.

The fuck? Is this actually a thing? How does this work?

p.s. I would still buy their SSDs. :D

Yeah it's a thing - a really bad thing. Yes they have amazing hardware but damn it's a slap in the face to all their loyal customers.
