When questioned on why PS3s were sitting on store shelves instead of on entertainment center shelves, Tretton responded with "If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than a few minutes, I'll give you 1,200 bucks for it." He continues, "I can get any retail buyer on the phone with you and get them to verify that not a single retail location in America where there's a PlayStation 3 on the shelf for sale. They've all been sold in a matter of minutes."

I got my EGM today, and that's not even the worst thing he said. It's shocking how out of touch and arrogant he is about some things. The EGM interviewer asked some tough, fair questions. I'd like to see how the executives from MS, Nintendo, EA, and others answer some harsh questions like those. Probably some similar P.R. bs, but god, Sony's executives all have foot in mouth disease.

really does anyone know if they actually got paid??? cuz he owns me 78,000 bucks :p. a shipment of 65 have arrived in GA ...maybe going to many retailers such as target, bestbuy, circuit city :)

Well then Jack Tretton better get his ass to West Lafayette, Indiana. He owes me some money. I been to are Best Buy 2 times and every time there was a whole shelve dedicated to PS3's. At least 15, but most likely near the 30's. There is also a Circuit City next to this Best Buy and even though I never been in it, im sure they have some also. Come on Jack, make me rich, we shall go touring all around West Lafayette at every store that would sell PS3's and make me a very rich guy.

I seriously didn't think that he would say something THAT arrogant or stupid. Its official, the are being outrageously arrogant and stupid by design.

Interview was conducted first week in January.... they were still pretty scarce at that time, although not to the extent that he would have you believe

Yeah, there is no way they were as scarce as he would have you believe. I had Christmas money to spend so I went shopping late December '06 and early January '07, and every store I went to had PS3s. It doesn't matter when this interview was conducted. GameStop had them. Best Buy had them. Circuit City had them. Target had them. Need I go on?

I fthey are that scrce in your area, would you like me to pickup a few and sell em to you via EBay? There are oodles nearby my house (altho I do live near alot of large retail stores in all fairness).

Damn, is that legally binding if someone says what he did? I really could pay off my mortgage at a $600 profit on all the PS3s around here.

Sony really has issues, mental issues. They need to get off their butts and either slash prices or throw in a bundle's worth of games with every PS3. I need to research the rest of their company's divisions, if this attitude is standard for all their products, Ill pickup a few PUT Jan 09s on em.

I somehow doubt that.
I still, to this day, have difficulty spotting 60GB PS3's. I've spotted plenty of 20's... but who wants those? :X lol

But to be fair, I do live in NYC and things tend to sell out on a much larger scale here (example: PSP's were scarce as **** for some time).
 
well, actually there aren't many in Canada....So maybe he was in Canada, eh?
 
Yeah, right now I live in a fairly rich town and theres is no wii's or ps3s in stock atm, I think they said they have like over 100 360s in the back or some insane number, to bad I won't buy a 360 till I can pick up a premium one for 300$.
 
Fan boys make me sick. Buy the console you like, play the games you like, and stop having an emotional attachment to a bunch of microchips.

They weren't hard to find then either. That's further proven by the fact that EGM contacted stores at the time of the interview and half of the stores that were contacted had stock available. Tretton followed that revelation up with something completely unrelated to his boast.
 
I was in Best Buy friday and they had 18. That was just 60gb consoles though. I don't consider the 20gb complete, much like the Core 360. They also had 34 xbox 360s. I live in a major college town, so gaming is a big thing, but if that guy is really going to pay me $1200 per ps3, I will go buy all of them.
