I have an old Sony Vaio pc. I want to reuse the case but it is very specialized. First off there are no standoffs. The mobo goes directly on the metal of the case. I think they used special back plating or something but it would short out a standard mobo. Also the power and reset cables are specially made for the original mobo. They are built exactly like front panel usb connectors.
My idea is to get a piece of cardboard to put between the mobo and the case to avoid shortage. As for the front panel connectors I really don't know. I know that you can turn on a pc by just connecting the two power pins but It would be nice if I could still use the case power button.
