I’m sure you guys all remember the situation with Sony and their overpowering DRM technology. They are now suing the company that created the software, citing that it was defective and consequently cost them millions of dollars.

The music company accuses Amergence of negligence, unfair business practises and breaching the terms of its licence agreement by delivering software that "did not perform as warranted".

Are you referring to the rootkit thing?

If so, that's a load of BS. The way that Sony acted over that whole thing is proof enough that they knew darn well what was happening with their DRM. They are just trying to recover the cost of the losses their stupid scheme incurred.

why is this not surprising.....they've already lost so much respect, do they really think recouping a few million will fix their PR problem........

Maybe consumers should turn around and sue Sony for putting DRM software in their products that wasn't tested properly.Honestly, how did this company get as big as they are when they continually shoot themselves in the foot?

Sony, making up ps3 losses by suing the little guy. Sony vendors beeeeware. haha

This might make some vendors or devs think twice b4 doing business with them.. Which is not good news for Sony or the people that buy their stuff..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Sony own the company that made the rootkit?

Even if they didn't, this still sounds like a PR stunt to me. "Let's sue the company that made us look bad. That might instill faith in our customers."
At this point I could believe anything's possible with Sony.
