hey does anyone own one of these, im thinking of buying it, saw a demo of it playing ut2k4 and almost splooged myself.

Specs:
19" viewable size
.294mm H/V pixel pitch
12ms responce time
400 cd/m2 image brightness
500:1 contrast ratio
160/160 degree viewing angle (horizontal, and virtical)
1280x1024 native resolution
DVI-D and hd15 inputs
Price: $699.99 shipped, $550 after rebates
3 year factory warranty, 4 or more dead pixel warranty / free replacement, free shipping both ways.

this monitor has the uber cool glossy screen which makes colors appear more vibrant and sexxxxy XD

It's probably the best 19" out there but the back light leakage ruins the screen for movies and dark games.

picked one up yesterday , i LOVE IT

yes there is a little back light leakage on the left and right, no different than my old lcd, and its only when its dark black and i havent noticed it at all under normal use other than pure black screens

the glossy film is nice, but if its a bright room and a dark background you can see some reflections, thats my only complaint.. under normal conditions its wicked(who games with a bunch of lights on in the room?)

but this is one of the first LCD's ive use where the white it WHITE... nothing bothers me more than lcds where the brightness is so crappy the white looks more of a bright grey

The only good thing about that monitor is it's fast response time IMO. The vertical viewing angles are poor and contrast isn't that good either. It's too reflective and there is just too many people complaining about backlight leakage. The one I saw had the same problem and once you know it's there, you notice it on every darker color.

This monitor is supposed to be one of the best 19inch LCD's for gaming at the moment (if not the best). Very nice and clear picture, blacks are black, and no ghosting with the 12ms response time. I picked one of these up a few days ago, but I have yet to set it up; I'm very busy with term papers and studying for final exams.

cs is amazing on it dust map is nice and bright not so dullish gold as my old samsung was

well ive been using it for about 2 months now. i see nothing wrong with the blacklight leakage, contrast, etc. once you tweak it, all the problems are gone. it the perfect monitor IMO.

ive shopped around and compared other 19" LCD in person, and the Sony looks the best.

quick question though, since im new to lcd's (making the leap from CRT's, yah im a lcd noob :D)
What exactly is backlight leakage?

also how relfective is the screen from a flat CRT screen? I have my pc set in the corner nexto the window in my room. As of now it being reflective isnt much of a big concern.

o yah hows it look with watching movies?

Backlight leakage is light leaking from the sides and/or the top and bottom parts of the screen like the picture in the first post in this discussion.

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=840885&page=1&pp=20

The earlier yields of this sony has the problem to varying degrees like the picture in that discussion but if you get a new one today it will most likely be week 40 or higher which gets rid of the problem almost entirely. You can check the week of this year the display was manufactured by holding down the menu button for a few seconds. I went through two week 38's that had pretty back leakage on the sides and my 3rd one was a week 44 and it's had no bad leakage at all with none on the sides and very little on the top and bottom that's barely noticeable.

As far as reflection it's not a problem at all and my old 21" sony g500 crt actually reflected a bit worse. If you sit with a ton of light behind you working on really dark backgrounds all day it might be a bit bothersome but that's true for almost all displays that I've seen. Also, dvd's and games look great on this display. It gives everything an almost 3d like appearance, an added depth.

yeah, brightness is really the best on SONY lcds....

muwahahahahah .... i couldnt wait much longer, ordered my new monitor earliear this evening :D g2 love sony's finance options :D

Though you'll probably get a later production one I'd tell them to make sure it has a production week of 40 or higher, sending it back and forth to get a good one would suck. Have fun with your new lcd though, it really is an amazing display.

indeed, its set to arrive tomarrow or eairly friday :D when it arrives, it wil be an orgasm in a box.. if that is possible that is

For those of you waiting to splooge and orgasm over this Sony...the glass TFT screen makes cleanup easy!
