Sony’s Answer To PS3 Piracy: Serial Codes?

All the cd key does is prevent pirates from playing online. Has been working pretty well for PC games for years.

Yeah, that's why most major publishers have all but abandoned PC-first development the past six years in exchange for console only or multiplatform releases...

I love how all these new anti-piracy technologies pretty much eliminate the used-game market. Its getting fucking ridiculous. Sony had a chance to BIGTIME one-up Microsoft by looking the other way with the PS3 hacks. While Microsoft would ban players it detected with modded consoles or firmware, Sony could have picked up all those players instead. They should look at their own PSP - the ONLY reason the damn thing sells outside Japan is for the most part, custom firmware. With CFW, you can play tons of titles from a memory stick, PSP, PSX, Emulated, run tons of homebrew software from better web browsers and media players, to my favorite Undubbed games.

Sony and Microsoft need to look to Nintendo, who have two consoles that can EASILY be hacked to play pirated games online, run homebrew and other features etc.. and is still selling way more software and hardware than anyone else. This is without CD keys, lockdowns, console bans or other "We'll get those dirty pirates".

This has to be a joke, right?

What a business plan... Open the doors for hacking and exploiting!! Let all the asshats in! We don't care about the other 95% of our legitimate customers, screw em!

Put your phone's ringer on loud, you don't want to miss the incoming call from Sony for a job opportunity to join their strategy team after this post!
