Talking points :

1. 1080p Native OLED display.

2. 120hz Refresh rate. 120 FPS target frame rate.

3. First half of 2016.

4. Low input latency (<16ms)

5. Frame interpolation for 60 FPS games to keep 120 FPS standard developed for "goal" for VR games. (Ehhh...)

6. 100 FOV (big plus for FPS games)

I'm still not sold on VR for consoles. Not enough power. I can't imagine native 1080p 120hz games running at 120 FPS being anything but pretty minimal looking.

Price still kinda cloudy as well. Lots of rumors saying $299 price point being realistic. That's quite a price to swallow with a $399 console.

I wonder if I can play the game PUKE PUKE PUKE.... I can see the 5 star ratings on that one get drunk and put this sucker on your head.

Have to buy early before they switch the OLED to LCD to save money. :)
All I know is that if I am sitting in the living room with that on and my wife is there she will just kick my ass.
So yeah, I am in for one.

OF COURSE you know how it goes with SONY right, this is released with one game supporting it, Wait until late 2018 for whatever cool game you actually want to come out.

..Or no game at all. And have near zero support like the Vita :(

Right, the Vita is/was a great platform. I would argue however that the Vita now has a very decent library of games and with PSPlus it is a wonderful device.

But how old is it?

Sony's eternal modus operandi:
Make great Hardware
Promise great software
Wait until platform is ready to be replaced
deliver on 10% of promises.

1080p to each eye or 1080p single display? Either way, the low resolution combined with frame interpolation and upscaling is going to cause symptoms of motion sickness to become exacerbated, I would imagine. This is going to be so bad...

Considering almost nothing (beyond last-gen ports) on the PS4 runs at 60fps I have very little faith in those claims.
It sounds amazing on paper, but 120fps? C'mon. You don't jump from 30 to 120 overnight.
I bet everything is just an elaborate 30fps with "smoothmotion" enabled.

As exciting at this is, I am still holding out for either Oculus or the new HTC one. The amount of modding and games on PC that will be compatible with VR will just be insane. With Sony you're limited to support... now whether they can patch already released games is a huge question mark.

However I am not confidence in Sony's support of this. Their PS Eye and Move support through the years since Playstation 2 has been a absolute joke.

However, with the emergence of VR being the next frontier in gaming I can almost guarantee that some camera or extra peripheral will be a necessity with future consoles.

Think about it...

Morpheus + 2 Move controllers + Camera = ??? (Probably a lot) Definitely more than Oculus. Granted, you will have more interactivity with the game world if you are using the Move controllers...

This is why I bought 2 sets of Move controllers (motion controller and the other one hander) when they were like 4 bucks at Kmart 2 years ago.

I'd imagine the support will be strong considering the market players involved but nothing remotely AAA must haves. I'm not overly concerned about frame rates because I'm almost positive they won't aim for PS4 level stuff probably earlier PS3 games or even less if it needs it.

I'm not expecting Skyrim at 120fps with PS3 level graphics at all.

Not sure exactly. I believe to each eye but don't quote me on that.

This is why VR really isn't going to take off the way it should for a while. I can't use VR without motion sickness myself and this won't change how I personally game likely at all.

Unless they get high resolution/faster refresh rates and absolutely nail motion tracking (HTC Vive seems like its solved this issue though) I can't imagine buying it for gaming.

I think VR even when its on the market will only slowly take off. We need killer apps outside of the obvious (Porn..).
