Sony LCD Power Issues

Hi all -

I have a Sony SDM-S73 17" LCD monitor. Since day one, it has exhibited the following annoying behavior. When I turn the monitor off via the power button, the monitor turns off and the power light goes out - BUT I cannot turn the monitor back on. After 20 minutes or so, the light turns amber and I can turn the monitor back on. Similarly, if my computer hibernates or goes to sleep, and I wake it back up, the monitor will be "dead" - no power light, and pressing the power button yeilds no result. Wait 10 or 20 minutes, and the monitor comes back to life. Rebooting my computer also brings the monitor back to life.

I've updated both the monitor's driver files and my video card's drivers (nVidia GeForce 6600, 256MB). I've messed around with the Win XP power management features, to no avail.

What the heck makes makes the monitor dead to the world, and why does it randomly come back to life? I can leave the monitor on for 50, 60, 70 hours straight with no problems, but as soon as I turn the thing off, it gets a mind of its own.

Any advice is appreciated. This is driving me nuts - especially when I turn the thing off to go to bed then remember some last minute thing I need to do, but can't because I can't turn the monitor back on for 20 minutes!
