Anyone have or handled one?

I've always wanted a nice digital camcorder. I'm really into movies and screenwriting, but I have no experience with filming. I don't have the money to jump into professional equipment, but I don't want to mess with tapes or discs. It takes up to 4MP still photos, so it can double as a camera.

Thoughts?

Would this series of camcorders be good for beginners? I don't want something shoddy, and I'm willing to put in the effort. Plus I don't want to feel the need to upgrade once I get the hang of it.
