im planning on buying sony flat wide 24" crt mointor
but you know how colors and vividness of all crt monitors go bad over time bad(even LCDs)?
i have seen some people saying about WINDAS software
and i was wondering if the software fixes that problem and make the screen displays like new proudct?

Performing the Image Restoration function which can be found in the monitors OSD should help restore some of that beauty. WinDAS will help you correct black levels, adjust geometry and get perfect convergence.

But in the end, there is only so much one can do. If the tube is near EOL then all the tweaks in the world will not make it look new again. Best to have a look at the display in person before you buy it, if possible.

Just remember the tube requires a decent amount of time to warm up. 30 minutes is the minimum IMO.

thank you for the reply
i have noticed there are grades in used fw900
whats the standard for dividing grading A and grading B
does it usually involve the health of tube and the actual color of screen
other than scratches on the outer glass and the body?

just one more question if you are not busy
its kinda off topic for the title of this thread but
i have been dreaming about those infamous sony 24 wide monitors for very long time
here in toronto canada where i live is the wasteland for such monitors
there seems no hope unless i get it shipped to here
do you know approximately how much shipping costs usually are for this big heavy thing?
and which of ups and usps is usually used for fw900?

I've no idea about the grading for the monitor. Best to contact the seller and ask.

The best way to ship these monitors is by freight. Shipping in any form of such a heavy and large object will easily be $100+.

You might consider making a drive down to one of the closer states in the US and pick one up yourself.
