Sonic CD is now on Xbox Live Arcade for $5. More effort than usual must've gone into this modern Sonic CD port; a new engine was used for it and some minor additions were made but it still feels like the old game I think the best feature is that it doesn't run in a stupid window against some ugly background, it actually runs at a proper 16:9 resolution without stretching and you can choose to display the original output instead of some smudgy filtered crap. It's almost amazing considering lots of old games sold on XBLA run in an ugly stretchy window and are blurry because of bilinear filtering.

I had no idea this was happening so I did a little searching and found that it's available on just about every platform

Sonic CD is available now on Xbox 360 for 400MP and iOS for $2.59. The Android version has been delayed until early 2012 and though is is available via the Playstation Network in Europe right now, US fans will have to wait until December 20th. PC, Mac and Windows Phone 7 versions will also be released sometime in 2012.

Good news for me since I don't have a sega CD or an xbox.

Yeah, supposed to be coming to PC but I don't see any dates announced. The game was announced for many platforms, no specific dates given, then just suddenly appeared. As far as portable versions go, I read that the virtual D-pad control on the iOS version was very good compared to other games.

Oh man, hope it has the American music intro. Always liked that Sonic Boom song......
It has both soundtracks but the intro music stays Japanese for some reason even after you select the US soundtrack. The Sonic Boom song is in the video that plays during attract mode and before you start the game.

The bonus stages are killing me; I know I did them in the past but can't remember how the hell I got those damn UFOs. RAAAAAGEEE

I'm waiting to see if the Android version supports USB game controllers - I'll pick it up if it does.

Nice.

I don't know if I need another copy of the game though. I have the original sega cd version, sonic jam for the saturn that might have it on it(I don't think it does but I can't remember), and the pc port of it.

It was a good game, for 5 bucks I might download it to the 360 to give it a play though.

I bought the Android version for $2. It's a good port and the controls are excellent, but the sound doesn't seem to work except during the intro cutscene (which isn't a problem since I keep my phone on silent anyway).

Glad to hear this because I couldn't afford a Sega CD when it first came out (damn 10 dollar a week allowance). I always wanted to play it.

How did you know the audio was broken if you keep the phone on silent?

Was a good game. Played it on my Mega Drive CD. One of the few sonic games that I actually finished. Even though I love sonic but I have yet to finish off Sonic 1, 2, and 3. Heck, I haven't even finished Sonic Generations... :S

Well crap, it's showing as $4.99 on iOS now. :( It was $1.99 this AM, but I wasn't sure. Did some reading, decided to get it, $3 more now. If I have to pay that, I'll get it on my 360.

Just to let people know, gamepads work fine on the Android version. I plugged in my NES pad with my retrobit USB adapter to my Toshiba Thrive and it works great.

The default controls on Android are really good. I find them far more accurate and responsive than most other games I've tried, and certainly better than any emulator I've used. They did a great job on it.

Sonic Jam didn't have Sonic CD, but it did have at least one of the videos from it.
