Couldn't resist to pick up this Antec Sonata @ Fry's for $59 after rebate :D . Though the case is very quiet, air intake side is less than desired. I notice after I took out the removable 3 1/2 bay (no flappy for this set up), the air flow out of the back 120mm is much imporved, and case temp drop 3C. So I made a bracket with the cut opening, spice up the look a bit...

Add a fan behind the tunnel...

On a hot day, just open the door for more vent...

When quietness is needed, close the door...

So basically you put a hole in the front of your computer, but made it pretty. :D

Nice, looks clean.

Not sure how much it helps when you have the front door closed

Instead of having it open on a hot day and closed when it's cooler, just take it off.

his hd rack is twisted so most of the cabling is behind that and to boot no a drive so that eliminates one cable and two harddrives means one ide cable and the one cable at the bottom i'm guessing is for the power and reset and whatnot connectors...

I did the same thing with my old HP case before I moved everything into a 3700BQE. I removed the spare 5.25" cover, and when I need lower CPU temps I leave the drive door open. :)

Very nice wiring job. I would have never thought to mount the hard drives backwards to hide the power and data cables.
My buddy has a Sonta as well. What spacing did you make the openings in your grill?

Thx. This is more of an idea for the Sonata than a mod. Antec's way to quiet a case is to seal or block off every opening, air flow from front to back is pretty bad. The opening is about 1"x3" (should'vd made it bigger), I madet the frame with a piece of aluminum, cut some brass solding rods into right height, epoxy them to the frame, polished the pieces up for the look.
