• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

As a few of you may or may not know, I am in the Law Enforcement Line of Work.
Since I live in a small southern county, we don't have a lot of computer crime, but when we do, I usually get a call from a detective asking me some question.

I was asked to look at a computer Friday because it had this weird program running.
They booted it up for me to look at and Boom: Folding@Home SMP.

Now I can't release the user name due to the case being active.
I can say that the parts inside the computer were all stolen from local stores.

I almost fell out on the floor. I thought F@H users we all perfect.. Guess not ...
When I go back to work on Monday, I will be able to at least look up the team #.

Oh, that's not good... stealing parts to fold, seems like a conflicting message. Perhaps the folder bought the parts from someone else?

Well, hopefully everything gets resolved one way or the other.

Hmmmmm, I wonder who it was?

You may want to inform Stanford of this.

Depending on what you find, the folders points could well be set to zero.
It works that way for illegal borgs, so I don't see why that should not happen for stolen hardware as well, IF its the guilty party is running the hardware.
It the folder has unknowing bought the hardware second hand then they should be able to keep the points.

Luck ............ :D
